THE POWER OF PARTNERSHIP: BROTHERS IN BUSINESS
There is a well-known saying that business and family don’t mix. However, some of the world's biggest and most successful companies, including Chick-fil-A and Ford Motor Company, are family-owned or sibling-operated. The Wright brothers, the Walton brothers, and the Disney brothers? These are all examples of siblings turned business partners with a long history of success.
Sure, we know what you’re thinking–not every set of siblings is cut out to go into business together. So, what’s the secret to killing it in business with your sibling without, well, wanting to kill your sibling? Just ask the Pool Brothers.
Brothers Building A Business
David and Keith Pool, co-owners of South Georgia-based Pool Brothers Cabinets + Flooring + Lighting, are a shining example of siblings defying the odds and building a successful family business from the ground up. Over 20 years ago, the brothers founded a two-man flooring installation business in their hometown of Albany, Georgia. And under their leadership, Pool Brothers has grown to become South Georgia’s destination for kitchen and bathroom design, construction, and remodeling.
So how do the Pool brothers do it?
Leveraging Their Strengths
Like most siblings, David and Keith have different personality traits and interests. Keith has an eye for design. His boundless creativity and innovation are evident in every kitchen and bathroom designed by the Pool Brothers team. David is known for his keen attention to detail. He oversees the construction side of the business, and his top priority is ensuring the Pool Brothers team delivers high-quality craftsmanship every time.
And the way they see it, their differences are good for business–and for their clients.
Designers and builders tend to think about the same challenges differently. But that’s not always a bad thing–both perspectives are important to bring a client’s vision to life. The way the brothers leverage their complementary strengths is very beneficial for their clients. Pool Brothers is the only business of its kind in South Georgia to offer kitchen and bathroom design + build services under one roof, which sets your project up for success from the beginning, and allows both teams to collaborate closely from start to finish.
Collaboration Is Key
At Pool Brothers, we believe our team approach is what sets your project up for success. Our unique four-step process is a collaborative approach that brings kitchen designers, builders, and the homeowner together from the start so we can work as one team throughout the entire project. This process also allows for open communication between clients and the entire Pool Brothers team throughout the entirety of the project.
A Business Built On Family Values
David and Keith may oversee different aspects of the day-to-day operations of their business, however, their vision for Pool Brothers Cabinets + Flooring + Lighting is the same. The values that were instilled in the brothers at a young age are evident throughout every stage of their business, regardless of which brother is overseeing the work at the given time. The Pool Brothers’ Core Values are a reflection of the highest priorities David and Keith have for their family, their employees, and their business.
